An unusual day
Before I explain how I was in the eye of a storm today............
Let me thank you for all your congratulations and kind words yesterday. I had missed the email that told me about the upcoming Blipday. I'm only pleased that the picture of the old oak tree wasn't too shabby!!
Today I was in Hexham at 1030 for a gathering in support of a new arts venture.
We were at the Old Fire Station which the council plans to demolish and use for a depot.
I was by no means the last person to arrive, but I missed the early instruction not to take photographs because the whole thing was under a press embargo. I took photographs openly and must have been visible to the organisers.
Once home I posted them on Facebook and there was rapid public interest. Soon I had a message telling me that I had to take the post down.
This was inexplicable to me; after all it was a public meeting and anyone could have seen us. Many people took photos on their mobiles too.
I did take the post down because I don't want to jeopardise the proposal, but I think it was rather foolish to have a public meeting (with mayor and MP speaking) and think that it could be kept out of the public domain. I will tell you more in due course!
The next part of my day was equally odd. I drove to Newcastle Airport to check that my camera bag will fit the size for Ryanair. I have never flown with them and I have 3 flights in September. I have paid for a cabin bag, but the measurements seemed really tight.
Thankfully the bag fitted in the box and a helpful member or Ryanair confirmed that it was acceptable. Phew!
My blip is of Alison and Veronica. I know Alison through Haltwhistle walkers and we have many mutual friends. Veronica came to join my CAMS team back in the day. She is an art therapist. We had such a good team then and it was fun (most of it).
I recognised a lot of people at the meeting, probably the "usual suspects"!
A relaxing evening beckons.
