Bobby Davro, George Michael, and Elton John

It's been another very busy day.

I took Beth to my gym first thing this morning. She worked out in the weights room while I was in my Pilates class. Then we swam for a little, sat in the sauna, and soaked in the hot tub, chatting non-stop. I enjoyed introducing Beth to my gym friends, especially those who know her as the voice of Lorna Lloyd from the Diary of the war podcast series. Meanwhile Mr hazelh and Jonah exercised back at the house.

On our way home, Beth and I called in on Bruce and Elly as a surprise. We returned through town to pick up a couple of essentials for poor bug-bitten Jonah, who seems to attract every hungry insect whenever we are out and about.

After lunch, Beth and I told Jonah all about our work on Lorna Lloyd, and then we introduced him to Catan. It was a very strange game due to a severe shortage of sheep and lasted longer than usual. In the end, Beth won it.

Mr hazelh and I are heading north on holiday tomorrow, so we spent the rest of the afternoon making lists and packing. By 5pm, the bulk of the work was done and we were able to trot across the road for Friendly Friday drinks in the shared garden with our neighbours.

We returned indoors for supper, then headed up the road to pick up some complimentary tickets for a Fringe show at the Frankenstein pub on George IV Bridge. I have to say that I thought it a bit of a risk to take our guests to see Bobby Davro, but I needn't have worried. His jokes were very funny, his impressions superb, and his singing spot-on. The audience loved him. It was nice for Beth to talk to Bobby before and after his show because her mother worked with him in the late 1980s.

I have blipped Bobby Davro towards the end of the his performance when he was playing the parts of both George Michael and Elton John in the song Don't let the sun go down on me.

Having woken at 5:00am today, I was very tired by the time we trudged back home through the festival and Tattoo crowds. We reached our beds around 12:30.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; pilates class; minimal swim; walking (21,070 steps).
