Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Forth we went

Well, I guess there are 28 more days to see how my life is transformed by my pillow, it hasn't been yet .
Today we headed East to Haddington. It was mild but not as hot as it had been the last few days. We headed for the Waterside and had lunch sitting outside by the river.
The heron shot was taken then, I was surprised to see so much Himalayan Balsam by the side of the river and easily accessible.
After lunch we headed across to St Mary's Collegiate Church. The current building dates from 1460 and it's the largest parish church in Scotland. It's a beautiful building, full of history, I haven't visited for a very long time.
They are lots of things of note in the church, there are two windows by Burne Jones. One was designed for the church, the other, the Wemyss Window, the blue one pictured here was originally in a now redundant church in Torquay. It was refurbished at the V&A on London and was installed here in 1972. The red window is by Sax Shade, an Edinburgh artist and was created in the latter half of last century. Beautiful vibrant glad in both.
Talking of vibrant, Bonnie is sitting entranced by Bluey.
