There be Dragons

It's been another very warm day but it's been much clearer today. We went to do a shop this morning, it was quite nice to be in the cool supermarket.

Sitting on the deck with a coffee I noticed this dragonfly perched on twig in front of a cotinus smoke bush. I put a big lens on and got a few shots from above. I then went down to ground level to get a shot from the front. I got this one but then I must have disturbed it and it flew off. I'm not sure of the identity but I'm thinking that it's a Southern Hawker but it's markings weren't as definite as I've previously seen.
