Basing House

An interesting walk in Basingstoke??

In fact yes. I wanted a walk somewhere different and found the Basing Trail, which took me via parks, commons, underpasses to the surprisingly olde worlde Old Basing. Basing House was a vast Tudor place that rivalled Hampton Court. During the English Civil War, it was raised to the ground by Parliamentarians during its third siege.

It's now quite a pricey £11.50 to visit the ruins and the large tithe barn, so I continued my walk.
