Dungeness Nuclear Power Station
Back in 1979 I was arrested (never charged) with about 20 other people for trying to prevent the builders starting work on the Torness Nuclear Power Station just southeast of Edinburgh. I still feel quite ambivalent about nuclear power, especially given the history of Chernobyl and the recent Japanese nuclear accident, but I have become more sanguine because I think the dangers of global warming are more real, more generalised, and more immediate than the potential dangers of nuclear power. Most of all I hate to see energy being squandered, which is why I really squirm when I see a single driver in a massive 4X4 "Chelsea Tractor."
