Strange Markings on The Pentland Hills

A wee hillwalk yesterday saw us looking down on these strange markings on the side of the hill. Markings that I'm pretty sure weren't there a few weeks back when we last did this walk with @Hazelh and Mr Hazelh

It almost looks like a signature - any ideas anyone?
