Taxman
Today was crazy busy and pretty awesome, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera on me for most of the fun things I did.
I got up nice and early for a hairdressers appointment, and the headed home to make a start on an assignment. I have an extension for it because I'll be in hospital having some tests done on the day it's due, but I decided to make a start anyway. Stef came over after lunch to do her taxes (Dad's cheaper than an accountant!) and then watched me get ready to go out for the night.
I met Julia at Flinders Street and we headed to the Athanaeum Theatre to hear Tavi Gevinson, of Rookie fame, speak as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival. Her speech was brilliant and very relatable - she's only 17, but the issues she talks about are universal for a lot of women. I'm so glad I got to see her speak - Rookie, her online magazine, can feel very US-oriented and I'm glad she came to Australia because she's so popular here.
After the event we met Phoebe at the tram stop and headed to St Kilda for Brian's 21st, which was super fun. There was a photobooth with props and the music was awesome, and the speeches were hilarious. I think we all had a lot of fun.
Here is Dad playing accountant for Stef as they tried to work out her tax. I was meant to be doing my assignment but I kept stopping to take awkward photos of Stef and Dad cos I was so bored.
