Fermenting joys

A jar of kombucha, which will get drunk but is mostly there just now to keep the the scobies working well. Three beer kits, which arrived today, and consist of two different makes of Czech Pilsner and a Yorkshire bitter.  Just now we aren't drinking alcohol and the cellar is fairly full of beer, but the company was offering a good discount on everything. If Jan has a wool stash it seems very reasonable to have a beer stash too.

Fermented rhubarb juice, with added honey for a secondary fermentation.
Rhubarb dregs and kombucha dregs combined - waste not want not. It will probably go into a bread bake, though I'll taste it first. It cleared and has fermented a little.

There'll be some sauerkraut started soon and when the weather cools a little I'll get going again with the sourdough.

We had a good day of doing jobs. First there was the MOT for the camper van. It passed with no comments.
Then we were off to the chemists to get vaccinated against shingles. It's not a National Health thing so we have to pay and it costs a fair bit, but I've known people with shingles and it really isn't something to take lightly.

The next move was to get our windscreen repaired. A stone chipped it a couple of days ago. The repair isn't guaranteed but there's a fairly good chance it won't spread into a crack and eventually to the need for a new windscreen. Jan blipped the repair and it really is nearly invisible, much better than it was before.
Rose returned from the USA yesterday so our next activity was coffee and new baked buns round at hers. She was fairly tired with the combination of jet lag and spending about 26 hours on the move!
A bout of shopping; food for our weekend visitors and then we headed home.
The vaccination was kicking in by then and we've been rather quiet since then.
Despite all that activity I realised I had no photos, hence the rather boring shot of the beer kits etc.
I'm to bed now so goodnight everyone!
