Two towers!

We had a really good explore of Le Touquet today. We walked to the town from the hotel and found the beach. It was a lovely sunny day with a cool breeze and so the temperature was perfect. The beach is huge with lovely sand for children, lots of people in the sea. Then we walked into the town centre for a coffee before finding a patisserie and buying sandwiches for lunch to eat on the promenade overlooking the sea. Oh yes, and a raspberry tartlet might also have been purchased!

We had not planned on visiting Paris on this trip so were somewhat surprised to see the Eiffel Tower in the distance as we walked back to the beach to eat our sandwiches!  See extra.

We then went to find the Le Touquet Lighthouse which is unfortunately closed for repairs at the moment. Had it been open, I'm wondering if we would have climbed the 274 steps to the top! If we had we might have been able to see the White Cliffs of Dover, 70 miles away, which apparently can be seen on a clear day! The original lighthouse was damaged in the war and this current one was rebuilt in 1949.

We then went back to our hotel, quite tired from all the walking. We had a swim in the hotel pool a bit later so think we'll sleep well tonight.
