Day 5 East Marton to Skipton 8.5 miles

My heart sank when I saw the road sign at Bank Newton. Fortunately I was able to continue when a kindly Engineer guided me back onto the towpath.

The canal locks, towpath, and the drystone walls were in poor repair on this stretch of canal. See extra for the effects of this year’s drought, resulting in day trip boats only out of Skipton.
