Battle

Inevitably having apples everywhere means we also have wasps (and blackbirds, thrushes and fruit flies) in abundance. Usually there are slugs too but it’s been a bit dry for them. About two weeks ago I picked up an apple under the tree without looking and the wasp I squashed retaliated. Even though wasp stings are nothing like as bad as many people fear (unless you’re allergic to them) I’ve been a lot more careful since. Today I thought I’d blip a wasp to record how much they’re a part of my life at the moment and to show my respect.

Then about an hour after taking this picture I turned on the kitchen tap without looking and…
