Spicy skewers, coiffure cock-ups, & a fine sheen of perspiration

Still feeling a bit off, but possibly on the mend. The heat is still stifling. I went out to water the garden this morning at about 8am and came in covered in a fine sheen of perspiration. But managed to actually get a lot done today, including applying for Ottawacker Jr.’s British passport. It is, it has to be said, a very simple process. His photo was pretty good too – much better than mine, which made me look life a portly bank robber from a Caracas prison circa 1973. After the photo shoot (“my hair doesn’t look very good in that photo, can you do another one”), we popped into a Chinese karaoke bar for some lunchtime snacks, taking some vegetable spring rolls back for Mrs. Ottawacker. My lamb skewers were incredibly spicy. I might avoid the toilet for the next 24 hours or so.

Having done all the hard work, I let myself be convinced to drive out to Navan for some vegetable shopping. Then I let myself be convinced to make dinner, which consisted of sweet’n’spicy chicken and boiled rice. Might have over-honeyed it, but the complaints were quickly silenced with a raised eyebrow, Reasonably pleasant evening – starting with the mandatory review of one of the new photo albums. My “after-all-the-hard-work-I-put-in,-you’d-think-someone-would-have-looked-at-them-by-now” mantra is obviously paying off.
