Swallows and Amazons
It was a bit of a hazy morning and fairly cool there was hardly a breath of wind and these yachts were not making much progress for most of the time.
Today is the Wide on Wednesday challenge (hosted by BobsBlips) and the theme today is 'a local scene'. I thought the scene on the river in front of me would meet that challenge very well. The boats in front of Archbrook Bay brought to mind Swallows and Amazons despite it being geographically incorrect. i suppose one of them ought to be flying the jolly roger too.
This afternoon we loaded up the car and took a couple of bikes to Starcross a few miles away. One is an old Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike that I bought new many years ago. It's in fair condition apart from the gear selectors not functioning. The other is a nice little folding bike which has been on many campervan trips with me and is still in very good condition. Neither have been used for a few years and when Marian noticed that bikes were wanted for taking to Ukraine, we decided to donate them.
Apparently, they are being sent to cities that have been shelled and are generally in ruins. Places like Bucha, Kherson, Dnipro, Stary Saltiv where people struggle with basic mobility. A bicycle is nimble and can navigate ruined roads much more easily.
