A visit to the upside down house

The temperature is becoming unbearable in a house with no aircon or through breeze. Inside is the same as outside -35 degrees. (Last night Nathaniel appeared at our bedroom door offering me an icy flannel.)

The children took themselves off down to the pool where they spent the morning. We adults all read our books. #2 daughter gave me one of her holiday reads “Bring the House Down”. I realised I actually knew the parents of the author.

Despite sitting in the shade and drinking lots of water I became very over-heated and the only solution was to stand under a very cold shower to cool down. Of course getting dry caused another sweat fest (as bad as when we lived in Hong Kong in the 60s in the monsoon season) and I developed an ocular migraine which didn’t help.

When I recovered we drove down the 1km hill to the car park then walked to join the daughters and children at the upside down house we’d spotted from the lake. It was well-worth the €6 entrance as they had fun taking photos of each other. Blipped

#3 daughter was on cook duty. She made a tasty courgette Ottolenghi pasta. However Luke’s effort last night surpassed all of us. A fantastic vegan meal of several plates of deliciousness that he’s spent most of the day preparing.

They have gone out to a bar leaving us to mind the children. If there are no behavioural issues they can have a sleepover. Ella with Thomas and Nathaniel with James. Mmh.
