Hooray for Alice Park!

I think we spent approx 3.5 hours here this afternoon.

Eda came home from her sleepover at about 10.30 am tired and a bit grumpy. She said she hadn’t slept because her friend had talked all night!

I’d made a picnic ready for us to head a few miles up the road to Dyrham Park in South Gloucester. We decided to leave it till afternoon so Eda could have a more chilled morning.
We had our picnic sat outside the house and I asked her if she wanted to go, she suggested tomorrow but Jude is away at a friend's tomorrow. She then told us that her friend had said the new bit of Alice Park was now open ( it was still fenced off on Monday) and she’d really like to go there. Easy!

They were straight onto the climbing apparatus. This one ends in a fireman’s pole, the other, behind, ends with a small slide which was declared ‘too small’. They seemed to really like the roundabout, especially pushing it, and had both Chris and I on it but we cried off as we both felt giddy! They also liked the double decker swings which are designed for a toddler and an older child together but most children were ignoring that.
Jude declared the sand in the new sandpit was ‘silky as a feather’ which was great as it didn’t stick to her.

The best thing for us now that they can swing themselves etc is we can just sit in the shade in the cafe and have a coffee whilst keeping an eye on them. You can see the cafe in the background with the green umbrellas.

One of Eda’s neighbour friends was there and Jude met up with a friend from nursery so everyone was happy. They came to the cafe for drinks etc but generally they were well occupied all afternoon and we hadn’t even taken the bikes. We only left when the other family were leaving and they were closing the cafe at 5.00 pm.

Alice Park is a wonderful asset on their doorstep, even better now with its new improvements. We look forward to them doing the other half in the not too distant future.

This place is very local to my daughters house here in Bath so I’ve tagged it for Wide Wednesday - local
