Abbey, Quay, Ho!

Another full day, after our usual slow start.

First off we drove to Hartland Abbey (first extra), and spent much more time there than we had anticipated, just in the gardens. OK we walked the mile or so down to the beach (second extra). We eventually reached the bench on the left and shared it with the lady sitting there. We chatted - she was from the Brighton area. We then did the shrubbery and eventually the walled garden, all of which involved a lot more walking. We've ended up doing 15k steps today. And did I say it was hot. I think it must have reached 30°C - it was certainly hot enough to melt the Jelly Babies in the car.

After the abbey we drove on to Hartland Quay where I got the main blip, playing with my variable ND filter and some long exposures. Much crashing of waves and some amazing rock formations were on view.

To finish the day we carried on to Westward Ho! for some fish and chips. More sharing, this time a table with a Dutch family who were on a road trip. The final extra shows a crowded beach scene. I never knew the village was named after a Charles Kingsley novel, hence the exclamation mark, which the novel title has.

We got back in time for me to watch another Pompey game. I shouldn't have bothered. We lost 1-2 at home. There were 10 changes from the team which won on Saturday. Worryingly the new signings looked awful. I'm pessimistic about the season again.
