Boon Geuze

Gueze is a type of lambic Belgian beer that has a decidedly sour taste, a bit like someone has put a couple of Haribo Tangfastics in your glass. It's extremely pleasant though I can only manage one of them an evening. Especially at £5.10 a bottle in Brauhaus.

having a Saturday night out as it is one of those extremely rare occasions when Jen is on a day shift on Saturday and then off on Sunday. After light meal of appropriately named Japanese Style Saturday Night Steak we headed up to Brauhaus which was packed so we only stopped for one, I had hoped to get a couple of their hundreds of beers on the menu but it was also very 'blokey' and not really fitting for a night out with the wife.

Dragonfly was more fitting and the 'History of Violets' that Jen had was amazingly fruity with a touch of violet from having sweeties in it. My Rock'n'Roll Damnation was like a cold version of a hot toddy.

The City Cafe was loud and slightly unpleasant, we normally go here early on an evening when you can actually hear yourself think, still they do Krusovice which I thoroughly love.

The Doric was primarily a toilet stop and put a huge break on the enjoyment, will be avoiding this in future.

Stopped off at The Dome as Jen always has to go in if we are in the vicinity, just to see if they are coping without her.

And finally Bramble for the Mayas Daquiri, made with avacado, an absolute treat.

Made the mistake of Cafe Piccante at the top of Broughton Street on the way home, a very unsatisfactoy mixed kebab, though chips with curry sauce AND cheese was a new one on both of us and had to be tried.

I was a bit disappointed I forgot to charge my phone before going out so it died after the one snap :(
