Dead hedge grows new plants

I did a couple of hours in the garden, and looked for a photo in the garden. I began to build a  novel (for me) Dead Hedge on the southwestern edge where I laid many Ponga and Nikau fronds to create a dead hedge. The land falls away steeply beyond the edge of our section (not especially deep), and I needed to be careful. It was a surprise to see these determined small plants aiming for the sky.
