Rocky...
This strange day became slowly warmer despite there being no sun at all, just some very gentle drizzle that was barely perceptible in the air. I had rather a dramatic start to my day, in that, rather discombobulated by the appearance of my eye when I first woke up (I've discovered the swelling seems to increase when I sleep, even if only in front of the telly), I phoned the surgery from before its opening time of 8.30am and somehow, presumably because of the tiny gaps between calls, ended up seventh in the queue. By the time I'd got to the receptionist, she'd just that moment had a cancellation ... for an appointment in two minutes. Could I get there?
I pointed out my august age but didn't admit to not yet being dressed, but as there were no more chances to see a doctor I said I could. Enough to say that I've never run down that hill so quickly ...
So I've seen my GP again, been reassured that I've not reached the critical stage so far (!) and told what to do in the event of worse happening, and given an advance appointment for Thursday morning. Pre-booking is as rare as hen's teeth these days, so I'm grateful. And in answer to my kind blip pals who've been enquiring, my current batch of antibiotics finishes on Wednesday morning, so this will be 24 hours later.
I marched back up the hill (much more slowly), had some breakfast, changed into leggings and went back out an hour later to Pilates, where I did a great deal of stretching and will probably suffer tomorrow. Then the longed-for coffee, Italian, and a nice phone call from #1 son. Meanwhile, #2 son, his holidays over, was in the air heading to some exotic work destination ... he's been home for two days.
Much later, we went out, aiming for a gentle walk only because of our exertions in the morning. It was wonderfully still and mild at Toward Point, where we walked round to the lighthouse and I took the four photos that I couldn't choose between (sorry!). I left the two beach shots because I love the colour of the sandstone rocks; the other two show respectively two seals doing back exercises and a rock crammed with cormorants. Or maybe shags ...We met two people we know - one properly, one only because we keep meeting him on this road - and had long conversations. During the second chat we were constantly dive-bombed by swifts, flying past so close that I could hear the sound of their feathers, and we were wondering what the attraction was when I realised the ground was moving with hundreds of flying ants who weren't flying but crawling around with their wings on. Presumably the swifts were hoping they'd try the wings out soon ...
We were quite late home, but dinner was simple - cold chicken and salad, followed by Booja-booja chocolate ice cream (sinful; I'd run out of fruit). It seems very mild and still outside, and I see the weather map for tomorrow is all ... red.
It is summer still, I suppose ...
