Musing of a Lady

Favourite Hat

Twelve years ago, I lived in a small village near Kruger National Park, South Africa and whilst I lived there, I bought this hat. It was made a company called Rogue Hats. This hat holds so many memories for me. I took it with me to London, when I moved there in 2014, as well as on most of my travels in the years that followed. I've worn it during the summer as protection against the sun and the rain (it works amazingly as an umbrella). It came over to the Netherlands with us when we moved here, but when we moved to Driebruggen, I couldn't find it. I assumed it had gone "missing¹" in the move. My parents have been sorting out their stuff whilst they're here and my dad discovered my beloved hat in a basket hidden at the back of bathroom cupboard.

Since my parents have been storing a lot of their things at my house, they're been going through all their boxes since they got here. Its been quite stressful as there have been a lot of boxes being brought downstairs and my home has been rearranged. I'm going to have to go through everything so I know where everything is. I still haven't got any news on the housing situation, but I'm hopeful we'll find somewhere soon!

My parents took a car load of things to the second-hand shop in Oudewater. I've been going through Little Man's toys and have gotten rid of a lot of the things he hasn't played with in months (in some cases, since we arrived in Driebruggen). We also went out to get a snack and a drink before coming home.

¹I don't want to point fingers but I've had a few hats, and various other items, go "missing" during housing moves because I think certain members of my family haven't liked them. I can't prove this and said persons would just deny my accusations.
