Living my dream

Guacamole

I received a box of 20 avocados 10 days ago. Inevitably many them are ripening at the same time. Fortunately I love guacamole. Even more fortunately it freezes well.

My preference is a very simple mixture of avo, onion, lemon juice, salt and pepper. I will add fresh coriander when it is defrosted.

Making the guacamole is all that I have done all day, because I developed diverticulitis during the night. It is periodically painful and constantly uncomfortable. And it has wiped me out.

I have snoozed, listened to an unchallenging audiobook, read a similarly unchallenging book, and snoozed a bit more.

The next few days will hold the joys of tiny amounts of bland boring food, plenty of bland boring fluids, and increasing irritation about my body not doing what I want it to do. Hopefully the pain will subside soon.

I have a pile of books to read and maybe I'll tackle a couple of tomes I bought two years ago to occupy me through the winter months - and which I have barely opened.

Nurse Bean has been doing her best to not stand on my tummy when she's joined me where I've been lying prone on the sofa.
