Apples and Tomatoes

This is the first of the full-sized apples from our new tree. It's quite tart, so it's either not quite ripe or it's a tart variety. (Neither of us can remember the variety.) This apple tree replaced our beloved tree that we lost a few years ago. We used to get barrels of great Gravensteins.

And the first ripe Roma tomatoes. We're having a heat wave here (97 F today = 36 C) and I can almost see things ripen. The slicing tomatoes are finally starting to change color, so I'll have to make a bacon run soon! BLT coming up! One of the highlights of summer.

Extra: one of the mini-sunflowers in bloom, barely a foot tall. (~30.5 cm)
