Colchicum alpinum
Twelve years since it's first appearance on Blip, this it's sixth outing. A small colchicum, from the Alps. I saw it in early August near Saas Fee fifteen years ago. Mine are seed raised. It should do OK in the open garden but I only have a few and don't want to risk losing them.
A day of two halves. The first half kind of a repeat of yesterday. A walk this morning with C and the Megs, some gardening which included collecting seed for the exchanges and a short spell at pottery. Jamie is recovering from his stomach upset so just Clara came with me.
The second half a shift at Aber Cafe for the Sunset Special train, a twice weekly shift for me in August. It was the shorter half thankfully, I was hot and tired before I started. Great fun in the children's playground where the Tracksiders are holding a Sponsored 24 hour Slide. There's a thirty foot slide down part of the slope to the playground level and a well organised gang of parents and children are there, some camping in the adjacent field for the night. Quite a few ex Tracksiders too, joining in, including my young cafe assistant for the evening who was a contemporary of Jamie's when we were Tracksiders around the same time I saw the colchicum at Saas Fee. Yes, I did have a go too :-)
