Feeling Crabby
Mr B spent the afternoon sorting out the van whilst Mr PP and I took the children to Dartmouth to have a wander around the town, and do some crabbing. Neither Mr PP nor I have done anything like that before, so it was quite novel! A couple of very kind young lads let the children have one of their crabs and shrimp in our bucket whilst we waited to catch our own. I even managed to pick them up without being snipped!
Mr PP caught an absolute monster of a crab, who was a clear example of survival of the fittest. He tried to escape the net, mid-air, bait in claw! As Mr PP expertly manoeuvred the crab back into the net, and tried to plonk it in the bucket, it scuttled off and threw itself back in the harbour! A true survivor. The children enjoyed releasing our remaining catch back into the water. I also learnt that if you want to catch a crab, then bacon is the bait! A lovely afternoon.
