Peacock on the Buddleia
Today's the day .......................... for a garden party
Sadly our time with Bob and Helen had to come to an end today. They had to go to work - and we had to return home. But we took our time and managed to fit in a visit to an 'Open Garden' event at Dalswinton Mill, near Dumfries on the way home.
The fact that we had never managed to visit this lovely garden before, coupled with the knowledge that the proceeds from the day would benefit the Loch Arthur Foundation were enough to make it an attractive proposition. In addition, there was a promise of a chance to buy plants from some specialist nurseries who were setting up their stalls there - and a delicious afternoon tea on offer.
The garden was indeed a complete delight, full of interesting plants and quirky corners. The house itself was a former mill with a lovely stream that meandered its way through the garden. I have taken away lots of ideas to try in our own garden.
But, the icing on the cake was a chance meeting with greengirl, who was there because of her connection with Loch Arthur - and her lovely daughter, Sarah. A most enjoyable afternoon .....................
