Tides

Interesting sea swim today.
Close to the shore, with the westerly wind, there was a pull east towards the pier. Out in the deeper water, beyond the groynes, a very strong current dragging me east and out to sea. This was contra to the wave swell, which was rather disorientating. These opposites were only separated by a few metres, literally within groynes and then just beyond them.

Once out in the beach, I took a quick video of someone who looked to be a strong swimmer, swimming against this current, he was making nearly zero progress.
