Steam Without A Fire
A fireless locomotive running as a demonstration at the Doon Valley Railway. It was built in 1928 and spent it whole industrial life at the Shell refinery at Ardrossan before being preserved in 1986. One of only two working fireless locomotives in the UK.
It is charged up with steam from our normal steam locomotive, but in industry it would be filled with steam from the works boiler system.
