Home Office Mess
So I'm part way through transferring my settings and hardware from the old to the new desktop computer. As with anything to do with Microsoft this is not straight forward if, like me, you want to keep control of your own data etc. and have far more data than can be stored in the cloud (as per MS preference!). It probably doesn't help that my office desk area is shared with my art studio desk, as shown by my blip today. You can see the latest "in progress" urban art piece in the centre surrounded by the various art and computer components. Mind you, I'm not the tidiest of workers at the best of times :-)
To date I've managed to transfer the hard disks with all my photos to the new computer and get Lightroom up and running with the original catalogue, phew! I had to dive into windows security setting to allow LR to find the raw files - my heart has just recovered from the initial panic that I'd lost them as my backup processes are not 100%! I've still got to get my "must have" customisations in place and re-install programs, but I suspect that will happen over time as and when I "discover" they are missing. So things are progressing. The main thing left to do is to move the computer to its position under the desk and connect up the 2 main monitors. The old computer and spare monitor will head upstairs to the spare bedroom, and will probably be recycled once I'm sure I have everything off it.
