Beatles
Today, after a lie-in, the plan had been to work on the attic stairs, but it was beautifully sunny so, after A had left to meet up with a friend, I took the bike out. I needed Turf points, as I began the day bottom of my league, after two successive promotions. By riding along the old railway to Dalkeith Country Park (see extra) and back via Loanhead and Roslin, I covered 37km, took 104 zones, and moved up to 6/10 in my league. The picture is at a familiar zone on the edge of Dalkeith called "Beatles" - because it's on the corner of Abbey Road! I'm not a fan of artificial flowers, but I liked the way that the sculpture had been enhanced with them. I was tired when I got back and, after lunch, after bring in the wood I'd got for making the replacement treads, I had a sleep.
Feeling refreshed, I cut the top two treads. They were tricky because, ideally, they have to fit against a 45-degree board that is part of a bedroom ceiling. I have a large circular saw that can cut at an angle, but it took me a while to work out how to set up the work so I could cut accurately and safely. I made a couple of trial cuts with scrap timber, and was pleased when I applied my experience to the "real thing". There's one more of these treads to cut, and then the last eight treads are much easier.
In the evening, I cooked, and then went to Lidl to get a dessert because we were still peckish!
