living in a glass house

Here!

In Warm Lake, in Idaho!

It's the second day camping at warm lake, well kind of camping as we're staying in a cabin so it's not completely roughing it. We had an adventure today! Towards evening I took Chickpea out in the kayak. We were having a really nice time chatting away at the things we saw and it was such a nice, peaceful moment. I heard my dad's voice behind me (he was fishing in the kayak) telling me that he saw lightning in the hills and we better head back. So we did, but a few minutes later a huge wind came in and I couldn't get my kayak straight to get back to the dock. It kept blowing us across the lake and I was worried for a minute that it was going to blow us to the other side and I was having visions in my head of being struck by lightning out on the lake! Finally, it started blowing us to shore, but further away than our dock. I was happy to be back on land, though! Luckily, my dad followed us and helped us to get out. Chickpea seemed a bit traumatized, when we were back to the cabin and the guys had gone back to get the kayaks she looked out the window the whole time and kept saying, "it's not safe, daddy and grandpa be safe, there's a thunderstorm coming.... it's not safe."

About 30 minutes later it was calm again. Though in the middle of the night there was a huge lightning storm right at the lake. We listened to it and saw the flashing and I was really worried, it just felt so dangerous being in the middle of a storm in a cabin and I was sure it would start a fire and we wouldn't know about it until it was too late. I felt really bad for the people in tents! In the end all was ok and it was a bit of an exciting diversion to our camping trip!
