Reflect
Before some appointments just before lunchtime, I popped out for a mooch and to get some bits and bobs in the market. There was successful purchasing of some fresh lychees, lemons and limes, a peach, some fresh herbs and Khobez flatbread. On the moochy walk there were a lot of things to see, this being one of them - the shopping centre, reflecting the sky, almost trying to escape its own existence.
I also looked to see if the Sainsbury's online shop is just being unkind and narrowing its selection of items available to shop online - it is - the same items that I like (but clearly people who shop online don't!) are available in the shop, but now not online - you just have to go there! It's miles out of the way, so not in my usual path, but I will make the effort next time I want some Thai basil!
I do really like the market. They have lots of fresh fruit and veg, there was a Polish Bakery there until a year ago, and various Caribbean, Indian, Turkish and Thai grocery shops, and there is an event this weekend with music, a coffee bar and a beer bar, pub games and a mini tent. Not sure what the occasion was, perhaps to get more people to use the market, but they were doing a good trade this morning!
I popped into my favourite coffee shop as well for the first time. This sounds strange - favourite coffee shop but first time? The coffee roastery has been in operation for quite a few years, but they just started a physical coffee shop earlier this year, and the coffee is *amazing* as expected. A nice chat with Carlo and a cup (and a couple of bags) of coffee later, it was time to head over to the appointment.
The rest of the afternoon has seen a trip booked in a couple of weeks (very exciting) and some more fun plans made for upcoming days off. And even with that, I still have 8 more days off to take before the end of the year - eek. I try to save them wisely!
It is a warm evening now, I made a home-made-kebab wrap with home-made hummus, tabbouleh and yoghurt and the tabbouleh is SO piquant and lemony - that's going to be an excellent lunch accompaniment for the next few days!
