St Peter’s church

We visited St Peter’s church to see a triennial artwork. The art was ok but the church much more interesting. Some beautiful stained glass and a great selection of preserves for sale. We bought a jar of three fruit marmalade.
On our way out we noticed lots of small figures on a high ledge in the entranceway. On closer inspection I realised it was a model of the Blessing of the fisheries parade. It was the bagpiper that gave it away, although I have no idea why bagpipes are involved.
We chatted to the triennial host about it who said he’d spent all week wondering what they were and was quite excited to discover it was his friend Chris the bagpiper leading the procession. There are about 60 figures in total. We looked for ourselves but must have been a year we didn’t attend.
