Blackroot Bistro in Sutton Park…..Saturday morning
Guess who is playing Hide and Seek!
A timeless pastime.
I took the photo as we were approaching the Bistro at the end of a shorter than usual circular walk. The little boy with his dad was looking for his mum and bigger brother. Can you see them?
It is always busy here. The queue was right out the door as we arrived, so we gave it a pass for once.
We are usually there much earlier in the morning, before it becomes too crowded.
You can see from the photo how dry everything is at the moment.
We have been having a lovely summer. Someone said that to me today. So many days of sunshine and warmth. (Some of it warmer than we are used to).
Today it is very breezy with clouds moving fairly swiftly across the sky.
Temperature a pleasant 24C. The breeze could feel cool at times.
Instead of dropping in for a coffee, or even sitting outside, we just got in the car and at lunchtime went off to our favourite pub for lunch.
The rest of the afternoon has been spent in the summerhouse reading.
I have to admit that the 10,000 steps I did when we were at Chatsworth with my sister and family, has affected my right leg thigh muscle once more. So we did a shorter walk because of it.
I was up early to do my exercises on my Pilates mat, which does help. Sometimes it is trial and error, how much to attempt, or not.
A learning curve.
So here I am with my book looking out down the garden where the shadows of the trees and shrubs are growing longer. We face slightly Northeast on our back and South West on the front of the house.
The sun is now lower in the sky at this time, in mid August.
And in the Liquid Amber tree I spotted the large fledgling Wood Pigeon, sitting patiently waiting for one of its parents to return.
Photo in extra.
