Vanessid
Goodness, the UK blip journals are certainly beginning to have an autumnal tinge - mists and plough land. So here is a cheerful Small Tortoiseshell, (one of the Vanessids), found sunbathing in an old church porch. I did read that Tortoishell numbers have declined by 75% or more since the 1970s, but hopefully at least they've have had a boost from our hot dry summer.
It's the first of the really bright multi-coloured butterflies I've seen through the lens this year, and I'm blipping it mainly to remind us it's still only August!
Hope you're having a great bank hol (in the UK) and a great weekend elsewhere xx
