Where Do the Kites Go?...

The Big White Dog and I have noticed a sharp decline in the number of Mississippi kites as we take our morning and afternoon walks. And we haven't seen a Swallow-tailed kite in a couple of weeks. It appears that their Fall Migrations are well underway. Both species head south for the Winter. The warmth of South America beckons to both, although the Mississippi kites prefer the more subtropical and temperate regions of South America. The Swallow-tailed kites typically begin their southward journeys during early July while Mississippi kites usually leave in August and September. So this morning's photo may be the last shot of a Mississippi Kite I get this year. Safe travels to you and your's, Beautiful Bird!  m
