A time for everything

A Royal visit!

Saturday August 2
Having spent 11 days exploring Iceland, we arrived in England yesterday evening, at Heathrow. We spent the night in a hotel within walking distance to Windsor Castle, which we had booked tickets to visit this morning, before heading to my sister’s in the Gloucester area later in the day. We arrived in time for the changing of the guard - I’ve added an extra collage in extras. The ones in green are the Irish Guards. After that, we continued our visit, through the different areas, and on to the State Apartments, the only part of the interior you get to visit, but of course no photographs allowed.
Being a Saturday in the summer, it was, as you may imagine, very busy! Having visited the State apartments, we had some lunch in one of their cafes. Then it was on to some more of the gardens, finally ending up at St. George’s Chapel, and walking past where Queen Elizabeth and Philip are buried. We then had a little walk around the town, treating ourselves to an ice cream on the way (!) before returning to the hotel to retrieve our cases, and continue on to my sister Janet’s.
