Storm Floris
A week or so ago we had booked a night at the Meikleour Arms not far from Perth. As the day drew closer it was apparent that our trip would coincide with the arrival of storm Floris.
The day started with light rain and moderate wind, so we decided to give it a go despite the weather warning. We had planned to visit the gardens at Glamis Castle gardens on the way but abandoned this idea in view of the weather.
We stopped for a late lunch between Dundee and Perth. By this time it had become quite windy. However journey to Meikleour was an eventful until we arrived in the village. A large tree had fallen across the road a few yards from the pub.
We were able to negotiate around the tree into the car park. On going reception we were informed that the tree had taken down a power line supplying electricity to the village and the hotel. It was not expected that power would be restored that day.
We returned to the car, negotiated away around the tree once again, and returned to Aberdeen.
