And this is where it all began!

28 August 1997, almost 16 years ago and the day we moved in. This photo was taken from the far side of the pond and confirms that there was not a plant bush, tree or even blade of grass to be seen!
The prospect of a blank canvass was so exciting (and we were 16 years younger) and we were able to create the garden you see today without the confines of other peoples designs to confuse or influence us. We've made plenty of mistakes and now know that a garden is never finished and for that we are very thankful.
