Away day!
We drove to Helensburgh, and had a nice snack in a wee cafe in Colquhoun Square. The Square is beautiful with nice flower beds, and well laid out. (Glasgow councillors should take note). We sat for a while there, and then headed to the little park at the end of the promenade area, and had a walk there. I walked for quite a distance along the prom, Bob had a short walk sat for a while.
Over the river I could see Greenock, from where we sailed down the Clyde in 1964 en route to Canada, and sailed up the St. Lawrence River six days later to Montreal. What an adventure we had, just married and were full of anticipation of good times ahead..... and there were!
We then drove up to Gareloch, I find it a bit sinister with the MOD properties and the naval submarines, but we headed over to Arrochar and Loch Lomond, and had a wee break and walk around at Duck Bay. I took the extra photograph of Ben Lomond there.
We had a lovely chat with a Norwegian couple, who were staying there for four days, they had been up north and were heading next to Stirling and then home. They said they had loved it and were very flattering about Scotland and Scots. I was equally flattering about Norway and the Norwegians.
The weather was lovely, and it was a good day out, although we got caught up in traffic jams coming through Glasgow.
