Grá
We've had a day of culture and are now exhausted by it all! First stop Ballydehob to purchase a sourdough loaf for Finola who has been laid low with a sore throat etc. Then on to Skibbereen to see the current exhibition in Uillin called Gra (love): a selected exhibition from the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork, which is currently closed for refurbishment (keep up|). It celebrates love in all its many forms apparently and was actually very interesting if a bit heavy on art speak. I especially liked this installation though I can't remember what it was called but a number of women were invited to take photos of any parts of their body they fancied. The artist then superimposed them onto pages from an 18C Bible , enhancing each page with a hand drawn apple. Lilith was referenced (banished from the Garden of Eden for not obeying Adam) and I think you can get the gist without wading through the blurb.
Cheeryoscuro captured the whole thing a few weeks ago.
After a nice lunch in the Riverside we continued to Cnoc Búi at Union Hall for another exhibition: Feast curated by West Cork Creates, also very interesting and multi-dimensional. The extra is a view out of one window, an artwork in itself. We then had a mooch around the village - not a lot happening in fairness, though the heron was enjoying a late lunch, watched by his pal.
