Raetihi Church

A nice drive from Marton up to Ohakune and it was great to see a very snowy Ruapehu start to creep into view.......fingers crossed the weather stays as good over the next few days.  Had a spot of lunch in Ohakune then headed out on a mini tiki-tour.  First stop, Smash Palace at Horopito.  (Extras) It's a spot that's been on my radar for quite some time but I've never managed to actually get there......until today.  Wow!  After spending well over an hour walking and looking around the substantial area I know I need to go back.  So much rust.......so much character.....so much to see.  I couldn't stay longer today though as I also wanted to get to Raetihi to see the old Church.  It's another classic and by the look of it now, if it were a car it would be back at Smash Palace.  So sad to see its demise.   Check out the 2008 version here.
