Tiny Figs
The fig tree is loaded with figs in various stages of development. There is even a fully ripe one on the ground although I couldn't find any on the tree. The birds seem to have a sixth sense about when the figs are perfectly ripe before taking a few pecks out of them and leaving the rest. I'll leave this ripe on on the ground in the hope that they will continue to feast on it, but I know they won't.
Our Zoom Pilates class was changed to 10:30 today because Maggie couldn't do it at the usual time. It was just John and me because Bob had cataract surgery and isn't supposed to exercise. He called with a couple of questions but mine was so long ago that I couldn't really remember anything much about it except that I couldn't stand the doctor. He did a good enough job although he did overcorrect one eye which now requires me to wear one contact lens. I suspect that I may have to go back to wearing two contacts again soon.
Our bodies got a good workout from Maggie and she and I mused about whether walking on the beach was good for our backs because mine is feeling better than it has for awhile since our mini-holiday at Nick's Cove.
One thing I know is that although, or perhaps because it was overcast, I got quite a sunburn on my face which is now peeling unattractively. Fortunately, I had an appointment with Bob's wife Gail, the aesthetician, for a lovely facial which tamed the peeling quite a bit.
I finished one particularly fussy quilt block today involving little hexagons and lots of fiddly hand sewing which I usually like. I guess I'm just not that impressed by the finished piece, a flower and hope that it will just sort of disappear into the final arrangement. There is another one, an owl, which I think I'll just skip altogether.
It occurs to me that this would be a perfect wedding gift for somebody, but no weddings have been announced lately, although there are a couple that are looking promising. It would have to wait for about another year before I get it finished.
We're going out to dinner with Kathy and her husband, Mike this evening. What with one thing and another we haven't seen them for awhile, so it will be a pleasant evening...
