midwife crisis

Not my cottage garden sadly but I give it plenty of admiration as I walk past it often. The butterfly had highly successful spiders web tangle removal under micro surgery . Head torch, phone in holder for magnification and with me holding it as Yola ( with her 31 !yrs younger than my eyes) used tweezers to untangle the mess. It was very slow gentle work as her wing and leg were wrapped in the stuff, but amazingly her wing I crumpled and her leg freed up and she was able to fly again. Interestingly her bright vivid colours really dulled in 24 hours we had her.
We released her and the gusty wind ( tail end of storm Floris ) blew her straight back against the window and into another spiders web, we all groaned in unison!! But we whisked her out fast and she instantly flew off by herself . She went with many good wishes from 5 humans , it’s hard being a butterfly in the 21 st century with so much loss of habitat and pesticides so we gave what we could .
Waved off YSD who are off to Northern Ireland for a little holiday . Loved having them and, as usual the house is quiet without them and there’s lots of tidying up to be done . Time for a nana nap!
