Flies of fancy

On the patch of lawn-type ground that is the back of the garden, where a few days ago was the pile of cut-down berberis, I spotted a few bright green iridescent flies skulking around.  I think these are the Common Green Bottle Fly, which are usually associated with carrion.  Unless they were relying on dead woodlice I don't think they were going to find much.

After work I cycled over to the motorbike accessory shop again to collect my new replacement leather boots.  They're so clean and shiny!  Hopefully they will behave better than my first pair.
