Fistral Beach
I love the RNLI. They really had their work cut out on Fistral Beach this afternoon. The beach was packed. Boardmasters Festival starts tomorrow and quite a lot of the expected 55,000 attendees are already in town (Newquay has a population of 22,000). The flags were out and the swimmers and paddle boarders were supposed to be between the yellow and red flags, while the surfers were supposed to be between the black and white flags. With the remnants of yesterday's storm and the strong wind still blowing, the sea was chaotic. Fistral Beach has a reef offshore and is notorious for strong rip tides. The lifeguard must have worn out his whistle today trying to keep people safe.
