Broken Glasses & Butterfly Wings, Aylesford

Today's still life image features a pair of my (expensive) broken glasses, the cover of an old, bashed up, silver shiny notebook that glows iradescent in bright light, a found, tiny butterfly and my journal (upside down) that I write my notes in for my blips. This is my favourite way of making a still life, take some disparate elements and see if they work together. In this case it was early morning, I'd just got up and the light was fantastic so I thought I shouldn't waste it. Me and my brother are always on the lookout for discarded items, however small, that we think might work in a future image. This tiny butterfly was lying on the pavement a stone's throw from where we live so I popped it in my pocket because I thought it might just work in a photograph - and today it did!
