Capitulation

As many of you have, I watched Stephen Colbert’s interview with Kamala Harris. The segment that made the biggest impact on me is the one where she agrees with Colbert’s statement that she predicted what would happen. BUT she also said she never could have imagined the sheer capitulation of institutions, businesses, politicians, judges and others and how quickly it happened — something also known as ‘obeying in advance’.

I think this is also what has completely floored me: capitulation, giving up/in without so much of a fight….

This word, capitulation, will forever define this moment in time.
