Morning Light on Birdathon Day
I did a bird count today, as I do every year at the end of July or the beginning of August. The only rule is that I have to stay on my 'patch', which I define as within walking distance from my house (about a 2 mile radius). In previous years I've done the whole thing on foot, but this year I allowed myself to cheat by taking the car over some of the boring bits. I also had permission to visit some private land. This is probably the reason why I recorded a record number of bird species - 51 seen plus three others heard only.
So it would make sense if I posted a picture of a bird, wouldn't it? Well I planned to, but I just love the delicate blues and pinks of the early morning light on the lake. It heralded a wonderful day.
Perhaps I'll put a bird in the extras.
