Postcard #2 from Hangzhou
Bamboo forest; hot summit smiles; in the mall; Midtown, 9pm.
Sally came down from Nanjing to say goodbye which was really nice and we caught the bus around West Lake to climb up Baoshi Hill for the lake view; not so nice though as it was stonking hot but I did like the bamboo forest and the rhinoceros beetle we encountered on the way. After that there was no option other than to head back to the hotel for a shirt change - tip: never wear a cotton t-shirt in 37C, 90% humidity. In my defence, it was clean.
After we’d grabbed some lunch Sally fancied a walk by the lake but for some reason we cried off, so we said our sad goodbyes and trudged back to say Hi! to the hotel air-con. Bur never fear, the air temp fair plummeted to an almost acceptable 29C so we headed out again, tramped round a mall to cool off, enjoyed a few craft beers in the Midtown Brewery, wandered back to the hotel, took advantage (?) of the hotel’s late-night free porridge offer and are now almost bedded down for the night. Blip comes first though.
